A Southern Welcome

I would like to welcome y'all to my new Internet home at The Southern Domestic Gentleman. After a lot of pondering and much research, I decided to devote a new blog to helping others live the Southern life that I have enjoyed over my past 30 years. In upcoming posts, you will find extremely helpful tips and techniques that I use in my everyday life. Each post will contain something different than before. I will share my secrets for great recipes with a Southern flair. In addition, I will give tips for creating and decorating your home to be a beautiful, welcoming spot to not only relax but to entertain as well. You will find ideas for easy, yet elegant entertaining. I look forward to using my love of photography, and my excellent camera and photo software, to share more insight into my Southern life!

However, I didn't want this to be some "boring" blog that focuses on my ideas alone. I have a great group of Southern friends that continually teach me tricks that I like to use around my house. So, I am going to tap my resources and share some of their great ideas as well.

Furthermore, I want your input. Do you have an interesting tip that I could use? Contrary to what you may have experienced from my big Southern mouth, I am all ears! One of my favorite activities is to take others' ideas and inject my own Southern spin. In addition, I look forward to gaining all of y'alls help with some of my projects. For example, I might use polls or comment sections to help decide what paint color I should use or which topic I should cover in my next blog.

Don't expect long, drawn-out posts that take 10 or more minutes to read. I promise to keep things short and on point. Also, don't expect to be inundated with blog posts. As busy as my life can be, I will be lucky to publish the two blog posts per week that I am planning.

Now, for something exciting! I do not want to use all of my time and effort and have it go to waste. So to entice regular, and new readers, every once-in-a-while I will post contests and fun games. Yes, there will be prizes. How great they may be depends of both my daily readership as well as the amount of Twitter followers I receive. I have some GREAT ideas planned and cannot wait for my first contest. But you have to help spread the word! I will post announcements for new blog posts on my personal Twitter Feed and Facebook Page as well as the Southern Domestic Gentleman Twitter Feed. Feel free to share these links with your friends and families! I'll even accept invitations from you Yankees!
